SYMBIOTIC LIVINGS (2021)
In collaboration with Ysé Avolio
Symbiotic Livings is a living sculpture created by a SCOBY, a symbiotic culture of bacteria. Initially, the telephone booth had the principle of "taking" people on a journey through the telephone calls they made. Symbiotic Livings also addresses this process of displacement. Creating a giant organic work (2x3m), the hierarchy of living things is disrupted, confronting visitors with a new form of life that competes with their human presence. By taking up a significant space in the public sphere, this living sculpture initiates a process of invasion and transformation, questioning our own corporeality. Over time, Symbiotic Livings gives way to mold, insects, tears, and other forms of life.
